SCORES: Lady Pirates top rival in season opener

The Braden River High softball team defeated rival Lakewood Ranch 1-0 Feb. 7, in the season opener for both teams.

Braden River ace Courtney Mirabella out-dueled Lakewood’s Huntyre Elling, allowing two hits while striking out nine.

Ashley Allard and Jessica Cadorette both went 1-for-3 with a double to lead the way for the Lady Pirates at the plate.

Braden River returns to action at 7 p.m. Feb. 14, at Riverview while Lakewood hosts Sarasota at 7 p.m. Feb. 9.
