Across the country, schools are participating in National School Lunch Week, which runs from Oct. 10 to Oct. 14. The theme this year, provided by the School Nutrition Association, is “School Lunch – Let’s Grow Healthy”.

As part of the celebration, a variety of guest lunch servers including principals, school board members, and district administrators, helped out at various school cafeterias.

Superintendent Lori White served lunch Thursday, Oct. 13, at Gulf Gate Elementary. The menu included Nokomis Nachos, Gillespie Park Potatoes and Land O’ Lakes cheese with veggies along with fruit. Though she was only there for 90 minutes, she said it was going to be the best part of her day. ‘I get to see the kids during a part of the day they look forward to,” White said.
