The School Board of Sarasota County and the Sarasota Classified/Teachers Association (SC/TA) reached a deal Wednesday, Sept. 11, for bargaining district employees to receive a 3.25% raise in the 2013-2014 school year .

Sarasota teachers, classroom aides, bus drivers and cafeteria workers will receive the raise for which $6.3 million of state funding will pay the majority, according to a news release. It is the first across-the-board salary increase in five years.

The School Board must approve the agreement before it can take effect.
