+ Salsa fiesta
Upper-elementary students at The NewGate School celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a salsa-garden harvest Monday, May 6. Students harvested the vegetables they had been growing since February in their garden. Then, they made salsa. Student Andrew Florio initially came up with the idea of starting the garden at the school.

+ Star struck
Sheila Raye Charles, the daughter of Ray Charles, surprised Sarasota Christian School choir students, Tuesday, May 1, when she visited the school to sing with them. Students sang “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord” for her, and she led them in “This Little Light of Mine.”
