The Sarasota County School Board approved a March 25 special referendum for voters to decide on a property-tax increase during a regular meeting Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The off-cycle referendum will cost roughly $400,000, and offer registered voters the chance to approve a one-mill millage rate increase. The election will take place March 25, which is concurrent with Longboat Key elections.
