Mind Games
Seven Sarasota Christian School students will compete at the Odyssey of the Mind World Competition May 28 to May 31, at Iowa State University. In April, the team of 11th-grade students placed first at the state competition in Orlando for the sixth consecutive year. They were one of four teams Sarasota Christian School sent to the State competition.

Food for thought
Temple Beth Sholom Schools students donated fresh vegetables to All Faiths Food Bank’s Sprout Truck Wednesday. The vegetables came from the school’s community garden, which students and teachers run. The second- and third-graders donated kale, radishes and cucumbers. The donation goes toward All Faiths Food Bank’s Campaign Against Summer Hunger.

Farm to School
The Sarasota County School District is one of eight districts nationally awarded Farm to School Implementation Grants from the United States Department of Agriculture. The $100,000 grant will be used over the next two years to support and enhance existing programs, such as school gardens and field trips, that teach healthy eating and bring local produce to school cafeteria menus.
