The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota recently received the prestigious American Baseball Coaches Association TURFACE Field Maintenance Award for the Robert C. Wynn Baseball Field at SCF Bradenton.

SCF was the only college or university to win the award this year.

SCF’s field was selected by a panel, which included industry professionals and groundskeepers from Major League Baseball and National Football League teams. The award recognizes coaches and groundskeepers for maintaining safe and playable surfaces. SCF also was noted for its recent upgrades to the field, which include a 10-foot halo around home plate, scoreboard with message center, professional batter’s eye, a new brick wall with padding and backstop netting, a four-column bricked entryway with iron gates and redesigned landscaping.

SCF will receive $400 from Turface Athletics to spend on field maintenance equipment as well as one ton of Turface MVP product.
