Sarasota Bay Watch’s seventh annual Scallop Search has reached capacity for non-boaters.

The Scallop Search typically fills to capacity every year. It’s a free, no-harvest event in which volunteers become citizen scientists by searching for scallops in Sarasota Bay by swimming or snorkeling in grassflats that are typically in six feet of water or less.

If you have a boat and would like to participate, contact Ronda Ryan at 232-2363 to ask about available spaces.

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 23, beginning at Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub, 760 Broadway. Volunteers receive free lunch at Mar Vista after the event.
