Downtown Sarasota welcomes rowing visitors

As the Sarasota area plays host to the rowing community during the 2017 World Rowing Championships, downtown businesses are hoping to showcase the heart of the city to competitors and spectators.

Beginning at 3 p.m. today, downtown will welcome rowing visitors as part of the “Float Your Boat” event. Event organizers include the Downtown Sarasota Alliance, Visit Sarasota County and the Sarasota Downtown Merchants Association.

The event will showcase various segments of downtown, including Palm Avenue, Burns Court and the Rosemary District, according to a release. The event will offer live entertainment, discounts and giveaways.

The event is part of a series in which different segments of Sarasota are welcoming the rowing audience. The World Rowing Championships will conclude Sunday, Oct. 1.
