Sarasota to reexamine Ranch Villages

The Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners will rehear the Villages of Lakewood Ranch project Wednesday.

Sarasota County commissioners will conduct a public hearing to reconsider their rejection of two of the five comprehensive plan amendments sought by Schroeder-Manatee Ranch for its proposed Villages of Lakewood Ranch. Commissioners originally considered the amendments on June 9.

The rejected amendments would reduce the eastern buffer from 550 feet to 200 feet and eliminate the requirement for a greenway along the southern boundary.
