A homeless man robbed the Fifth Third Bank branch in downtown Sarasota and fled on foot just after noon, Wednesday, April 10, according to a Sarasota Police news release.

Police identified 35-year-old Gregory Thompson as the man suspected of threatening a teller the building on North Central Avenue. A video surveillance tape shows the teller hand an unspecified amount of cash to a man in dark glasses and a black shirt.

Thompson was scheduled to appear in court April 5, to face felony charges for assault and unarmed burglary from a March 1 arrest.
