The Sarasota Police Department announced this afternoon its looking for two armed robbery suspects who woke a man sleeping in his car in the 1600 block of Main Street and used his ATM cards at a nearby bank.

Police said the robbery occurred at 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of 1605 Main Street. The victim, Armand Estroff, 47, had been sleeping in his car and woke when one of the perpetrators hit him in the forehead.

The perpetrators demanded his debit card and the pin number. One perpetrator took the card to a nearby Bank of America ATM machine, while the second stayed with the victim. The second suspect told the victim not to move or he would kill him. When the attempts to use the debit card failed the first perpetrator returned and angrily demanded the victim’s car keys. When the perpetrator went to the back of the vehicle and started opening the trunk, the victim exited the vehicle and ran. He ran until he saw two other people standing in the 1500 block of Main Street and called the police.

The attached photographs are from the Bank of America ATM machine. Police are asking for assistance in identifying the individuals in the photographs. Please forward information to Detective Jonathan Todd at 954-7091.
