Sarasota Police arrest woman for forging checks

Sarasota Police arrested a 21-year-old woman Wednesday, Aug 21, who gave herself an unauthorized employee bonus.

Detectives allege Abbi Sloan wrote 23 checks for herself and her boyfriend for roughly $8,200. The checks had been stolen from Sloan's employer, Lucia's Pizza, according to a probable cause affadavit.

Sloan admitted the forgery and began crying when confronted by the restaurant owner, who had noticed his checkbook was missing Aug. 6. Police charged Sloan with grand theft and uttering forged instruments.
