Sarasota EDC hires new chief

The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County has selected its new president and CEO.

Mark Huey currently is serving as Tampa’s economic and urban-development administrator.

He will begin work in Sarasota June 27.

Huey led all major relocation- and expansion-incentive agreements relating to jobs and capital investment, including IKEA; M2GEN, which is a joint venture between Moffitt Cancer Center and Merck Pharmaceutical; and Depositary Trust and Clearing Corporation.

Huey replaces the retiring Kathy Baylis.
