Sarasota County staff met with developers from September to January about how to simplify the long-range planning aspect of the Comprehensive Plan.

This evening, the public will get the chance to talk with county planners about nearly 40 possible changes looming for Sarasota 2050, which was enacted in 2004 to encourage compact, walkable communities as opposed to suburban sprawl east of I-75.

Sarasota County will host an open house at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Twin Lakes Park, and another at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the same location the following week to gather public input about growth east of I-75.
