The long-delayed FCAT scores were finally released today, and they show Sarasota County students making gains in some areas and falling back in others.
All FCAT results were supposed to be released May 19, but the state contractor, Pearson Education Inc., experienced problems with its student database. Only third-grade reading and math scores and some 10th-grade scores were released on time.
Among Sarasota County students, only seventh-graders and 10th-graders improved both their reading and math scores from last year.
Third graders were the only ones to see a decline in both reading and math.
All scores in all reading levels exceeded the state average.
