Members of the Sarasota County Commission agreed Wednesday to revisit the county's 2050 plan for development.

Developers of properties east of Interstate 75, in particular, have raised concerns with the plan, saying the restrictions are too specific and need updates and modifications.

Sarasota County Planning and Development Services will schedule public meetings for addition input on the proposed amendments to the county's comprehensive plan and land development codes.

"We should not lose sight of the fact that the recommendations provided by the private sector do not seek to change what 2050 was intended to do — clustering development and preserving open space," said Todd Pokrywa, vice president of planning for Lakewood Ranch developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch.

Commissioners adopted the Sarasota 2050 Plan in 2002.
