Sarasota County Administrator Randall Reid will return from Washington, D.C. Sunday, January 9, with news about legislative issues, and will lead a quarterly update for Sarasota County commissioners the following day.

Reid’s administration enacted quarterly updates on major capital projects and public policy initiatives in response to concerns about communication between staff, commissioners and county residents.

On Monday, June 10, county staff will discuss progress on strategic initiatives developed during a December retreat. Fire Chief Mike Tobias will speak specifically about the new traffic signal preemption system, the $2.3 million project aimed at reducing emergency response time and increase public safety.

County staff will also discuss:
• The future of transportation concurrency
• A proposed bus rapid transit system
• A presentation on watershed health titled “Walk the Waterbody”
