Sarasota County Commission to consider tourism plan

Sarasota County commissioners will consider a long-term plan to bolster tourism during a regular meeting Tuesday, June 4.

Visit Sarasota County, the local destination marketing organization, will present objectives and outcomes for its 2020 vision, which include securing more international flights, sporting events and promotion of Sarasota as an ecotourism and culinary destination.

The non-profit, government subsidized organization anticipates one million visitors annually and the development of two new full-service hotels by 2020 in its strategic vision.
