Sarasota County commissioners will consider authorizing staff to purchase up to $850,000 worth of laptops, desktop computers and printers, and the same amount to buy servers and IT storage products during an April 23 regular meeting.

Prices for brands, such as Apple, Hewlett-Packard and Dell, are set by a state contract that expires in September. Staff will authorize purchases on an as-needed basis if commissioners approve the recommendation.

In other items, commissioners will:
• Consider contracts, appropriations and contract amendments worth a total of $17.9 million.
• Discuss tapping surtax II revenues for $2.7 million needed to fund unexpected costs for the Beach Road drainage project.
• Consider a $319,000 amendment to the contract with Kimley-Horn & Associates for the Siesta Key public beach project.
