GROWING PAINS

3:43 p.m. — 300 block of Midwest Parkway

Dispute/Fight: Two neighbors got into an argument with one another over shrubbery one of them had planted along the property line. Upon arriving, officers observed that the plants were clearly on the other neighbor’s property, so the man who planted the shrubs agreed to move them over.

FOUL PLAY
4 p.m. — 1700 block of Alderman Street

Criminal Mischief: An employee with a construction company reported that, during the night, an unknown subject used a permanent marker to deface two signs advertising a new subdivision. Within the diagrams of the project located on each sign, the subject wrote “SEWER PLANT” in a small area of the map.

TRASH TALK

8:42 a.m. — 2900 block of North Orange Avenue

Dispute/Fight: A man got into a verbal dispute with his neighbor after the man found the neighbor’s garbage on the sidewalk area in front of his house. The man asked the neighbor to place the garbage in front of his own property, which led to an argument in which the neighbor cursed at the man. The man said he believed the neighbor might have hit him if things continued to escalate. Officers informed the man that the garbage was in the public right of way and wasn’t blocking the man’s property, and though the neighbor’s actions were not polite, they did not justify legal action. When police contacted him, the neighbor agreed to move the garbage in front of his own driveway.

A MAN OF HIS WORD
3 p.m. — 1500 block of First Street

Fight: A man reported that another male punched him in the face for no reason at a bus stop. The man said he asked the male about his tattoos, and then the male punched him in the face. The man said he didn’t want medical attention and did not want to press charges. Officers located the male, who confirmed that he punched the man. The male said the man sat down next to him and started talking. When the male asked what he wanted, the man asked him about his tattoos. The male said he didn’t want to talk to the man, at which point the man asked for a cigarette. The male told the man to leave him alone or else he would punch him. The man asked for a cigarette again, and the male punched him.
