Keep Sarasota County Beautiful (KSCB) is seeking volunteers to help clean coastal and other areas during the 2011 International Coastal Cleanup from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24, at sites throughout Sarasota County. Volunteers can sign up for the 2011 Coastal Cleanup by contacting Keep Sarasota County Beautiful at 861-5399.

“This is one of our most popular events every year because so much of the Sarasota community lifestyle revolves around the beaches,” said Sandra Washington, Keep Sarasota County Beautiful manager in a news release. “It is a lot of fun with many groups making it a social event with beach parties and gatherings after they get done at their location,”

The 2011 cleanup will include coastal areas and interior sites at the following city locations:

* Bay Island Park
* Bayfront Park and Marina
* Bird Key Park
* Centennial Park
* Ken Thompson Park
* Lido Beach
* Ringling Causeway
* South Lido Beach
* Whitaker Bayou

The event will also take place at multiple other county locations and beaches.

Coastal Cleanup volunteers can pick up their free T-shirt, while supplies last, and cleanup supplies at the KSCB office, 1660 Ringling Blvd., fifth floor, Sarasota, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. during the week of Sept.19.

For more information on volunteering or sponsorship opportunities, contact the Sarasota County Call Center at 861-5000 or visit www.scgov.net, keyword search KSCB.
