Booker middle School’s ‘Show Your Talent’
Runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Francis, 1289 Palm Ave. The event benefits the visual and performing arts programs at Booker Middle School. Friendship Force Sarasota Meeting
Starts at 7 p.m. at the Waldemere Fire Station, 2070 Waldemere Ave. Guest speaker is Rick Piccolo, Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority president and CEO. His presentation will cover airport operations and recent changes. Admission is free. Email Barbara Hahn at [email protected].

Cinco de Meow
Runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Cat Depot, 2542 17th St. There will be refreshments available as you visit cats and kittens. Visitors can spin a prize wheel and meet Cat Depot mascot Petunia. At 11 a.m. Friday, author Carole Stevens Bibisi will sign copies of her book “Tails of American Bronte: A Cat’s View of Life.” Admission is free. Visit catdepot.org.

Bay Haven Rummage Sale
Runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bay Haven School of Basics Plus, 2901 W. Tamiami Circle. Shop gently used clothing, furniture, bicycles, toys and home goods for bargain prices. 44th Annual Amateur Sand Sculpting Contest
Runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the yellow lifeguard stand on Siesta Key Beach, 948 Beach Road. You don’t have to be a master sand sculptor to compete in this amateur event. Participants will be assigned a 10-by-10-foot plot of sand to showcase their work. Participation is free. Call 861-5000.

Free Comic Book Day 
Starts at 10 a.m. at Sarasota County libraries. Children ages 5 and 18 who visit any county library location will receive a free comic book while supplies last.The event is part of the International Free Comic Book Day. Visit scgov.net. 

Mothers and Others Tea Party Luncheon
Runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 2185 Wood St. The Women Guild invites all mothers, daughters and friends of all ages. The event will include performances by Stage Door, a photo booth, 50/50 raffle and crafts for children. Fun hats and spring-themed accessories are encouraged. Tickets are $15 for adults; $5 for children 12 and under. Call 365-0844.

Tee up for Sea Turtles
Runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Evie’s Tavern & Grill, 4725 Bee Ridge Road. Tee up for sea turtles during a miniature golf tournament to benefit Easter Seals Southwest Florida and Mote Marine’s Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program. Second Saturday Workshop
Runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Argosy University, 5250 17th St. Second Saturday is a monthly workshop designed to help participants explore legal, financial and emotional issues of divorce.Segments are certified professionals and a marriage and family therapist. Garden Music Series: Lauren Mitchell Band
Starts at 11:30 a.m. at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, 900 Palm Ave. Enjoy Sunday performances by local, national and international musical performers. Concert seating begins at 11:30 a.m. Performances are at 1 p.m. Concerts are included with regular admission. Admission is $19 for adults, $6 for children and $10 for members. Call 366-5731.

Tuesday, May 10
Aging Mastery
Starts at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. courses on Tuesdays throughout May at the Friendship Centers, 1900 Brother Geenen Way. The popular five-week course offers topics ranging about aging well. The courses have a morning session followed by lunch then an afternoon session. Registration is $109 for all five classes and includes lunch. Call Terry McGannon at 556-3236.
