International Career Seminar
Runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at New College of Florida Sudakoff Hall, 5845 General Dougher Drive. The United Nations Association-USA, Sarasota Manatee Chapter is sponsoring the sixth International Career Development Seminar. Keynote speaker is UNA-USA Chief Outreach Officer John Ericson. Cure Cara Fundraiser
Runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Beach Club, 5151 Ocean Blvd. Cara Bodziak was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis, a life-threatening disease, in 2007. The annual event helps fund her treatments and travel to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago. The event features live music and a 50/50 raffle. Admission is $5; additional donations are appreciated.

The Scope of Expressive Arts
Runs from 5 p.m. Thursday to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Expressive Arts Florida Institute, Suite 1, 200 S. Washington Blvd. Participants will engage in both individual and collaborative arts processes. Runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street. Downtown Sarasota’s fall art and craft festival returns this weekend, with a focus on Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Welsh Society Picnic
Starts at 1:30 p.m. at Turtle Beach Pavilion, 8918 Midnight Pass Road. The Gulf Coast St. David’s Welsh Society invites members of the community to enjoy a day the annual picnic and explore Welsh culture. Hot dogs, hamburgers and condiments will be provided. Howl-O-Ween Pet Contest
Starts at 9 a.m. at J.D. Hamel Park. The Humane Society of Sarasota County will host its 18th Annual Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest. New to this year’s event is a 3-mile Fun Walk across the Ringling Bridge. Entry fees are $10 for pet costume contest only, $15 for Fun Walk and costume contest with $15 per additional pet. Spooktacular
Runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, 900 Palm Ave. Marie Selby Botanical Gardens will host its inaugural Halloween celebration, “Spooktacular.” Activities will include trick or treating, pumpkin decorating, seed planting and a mad scientist experiment center.
