Sarasota and Manatee commissioners talk transportation

The Sarasota County Commission will host Manatee County commissioners at 1:30 p.m. today, April 16, during a joint meeting in downtown Sarasota.

Transportation will dominate the conversation. Commissioners will consider a proposal to combine Sarasota County Area Transit and Manatee County Area Transit under a single authority or private entity, and an update on bus rapid transit routes. The Federal Department of Transportation plans for a new interchange at University Parkway and I-75.

Staff will introduce International Federation of Rowing Association officials at the start of the meeting for a discussion of the 2017 World Rowing Championships bid.
