+ Ryder Cup rings in success
Rosedale residents and friends teed off Feb. 28 for the 17th annual Rosedale Ryder Cup event.

The Canadian and U.S. teams entered the contest with seven wins each, plus one tie and one rain-out, before the American team closed out the two-day event with a 34-29 victory.

The Rosedale Ryder Cup is modeled after the famous annual golf tournament that pits an American team of professional golfers against their European counterparts.

Eighty-four golfers participated in the tournament, which ended with a dinner/dance and awards ceremony March 1.

“This event is a lot of fun for everyone involved — from the golfers to those who just come out to watch,” event Co-Chairman Gary Bruce says. “Everyone gets into the spirit of the competition, but it’s all done in a friendly way. There’s already been talk about next year and predictions of the Canadian team staging a comeback!”
