A Palmetto man died Thursday in a traffic accident at the intersection of Lorraine Road and State Road 64.

A Florida Highway Patrol report states Scott Alan Jordan, a 40-year-old from Palmetto, was driving eastbound on State Road 64 when 2000 Dodge Dakota, driven by 71-year-old Lee Roy Pompey, of Palmetto, attempted to make a left hand turn onto S.R. 64 from Lorraine Road. Pompey failed to observer Jordan’s vehicle, resulting in a collision.

Pompey suffered minor injuries. He is charged with running a stop sign and failing to yield right of way, the report states.
