Rotary donates more than $90,000

The Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch doled out monies raised at the 2009 Suncoast Food & Wine Fest during a special luncheon at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club today.

This year, the festival raised more than $97,000 for area charities and other Rotary projects. Awardees at last week’s luncheon were as follows:

• Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Suncoast — $10,000

• Children’s Guardian Fund — $5,000

• Easter Seals of Southwest Florida — $5,000

• Family Network on Disabilities — $2,000

• Family Partnership Center — $6,400

• Florida Blood Services — $4,200

• Humane Society of Manatee — $1,500

• Lifelong Learning Academy — $665

• Manasota BUDS — $5,000

• Manatee Children’s Services — $6,200

• Manatee Players — $2,500

• Meals on Wheels PLUS/ Manatee Food Bank — $4,625

• PAL of Manatee County — $6,000

• Pines of Sarasota — $9,296

• Rotary’s Camp Florida — $1,140

• Rotary — Clean Water Challenge — $10,000

• Sarasota/Manatee Association for Riding Therapy — $8,194

• United Way 2-1-1 of Manasota — $3,000

• We Care Manatee — $5,000

• Willis Elementary School — $450

To date, the Rotary of Lakewood Ranch has raised more than $700,000 for charities through this signature event.
