The Sarasota County Commission officially added a new member today. Commissioner Christine Robinson was sworn into office during a ceremony this morning at the County Commission Administration Center.

Gov. Charlie Crist appointed Robinson last month to replace retiring Commissioner Shannon Staub, who had two years left on her term.

Robinson made a promise to county residents.

“Although we may disagree, you will always know I have listened and will try to understand where you’re coming from,” she said.

A long list of dignitaries were in attendance, including City Commissioner Suzanne Atwell, City Commissioner Dick Clapp, Rep. Doug Holder, Mayor Kelly Kirschner, Sheriff Tom Knight, Rep. Ray Pilon and the four other members of the County Commission.

“We look forward to working with you,” County Commission Chairman Joe Barbetta told Robinson.
