River Club woman found dead

Authorities are investigating the death of a River Club woman early Thursday morning.

A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report states Connie K. Sowards, 49, of the 6900 block of Rivers Edge Street Circle in River Club was found dead in her bed the morning of Jan. 21.

The victim’s live-in boyfriend John Schey woke up to find her unresponsive and called 911.

The report states Schey he last knew Soward was OK around 2 a.m., Jan. 21. The victim had recently been diagnosed as a diabetic and was on oral medication. She also had a back injury for which she was taking pain killers. A cursory check of her medications did not indicate any unexplained use and there were no signs to the victim, the report states.
