Rick Scott to speak in Sarasota

Florida’s 45th governor will be in Sarasota this afternoon to speak to the public at JRL Ventures, Inc./Marine Concepts, a design, engineering and manufacturing company.

Doors will open to the public at 12:30 p.m., and anyone may attend.

Scott is speaking as part of his “One million jobs for one million miles” bus tour.

He recently proposed, for the 2016-17 state budget, $1 billion in tax cuts for businesses, including eliminating business income tax on retailers and manufacturers in the state, as well as reducing taxes on commercial leases as part of an effort to increase jobs in the state.
