Residents will travel by boat, paddle board, kayaks and any other watercraft that will float to the Party on the Pass this Sunday.

Nestled in the Big Pass shoals, Party on the Pass will take place Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Not to be mistaken for the annual event hosted at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium with the same name, the purpose of Party on the Pass is to bring together residents who are opposed to the Army Corps of Engineers dredging of Big Pass.

Results for a survey conducted the Siesta Isles Association were released in July and showed that 98 percent of residents, from the 297 that were sampled, were in opposition of the dredging. The dredging would supply the sand necessary to replenish Lido Beach.

The event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. which when the sandbars will be at their peak due to the tide. As of Friday the list of people registered for the event on the Facebook page is 1,358 with more invited. Participants are being advised to keep the tide in mind when planning for the party. Alcoholic beverages will be provided by SweetWater Brewing Company and Russian Standard.
