Sarasota County Administrator Randall Reid has appointed Ted Coyman, Jr. as Procurement Official effective immediately, according to an email from Reid to Sarasota County Commissioners.

Second Deputy County Administrator Bill Little has been serving in the interim since the June 19, resignation of Mark Thiele. Coyman is currently contract manager with Sarasota County, where he has “gained valuable insight on county departmental issues,” Reid explained in the email.

An ethical and procedural overhaul of the procurement department was one of Reid’s main goals when he took the county administrator position at the beginning of this year.

Coyman was a finalist in earlier recruitment efforts for procurement official. “His superior performance, high ethical standards and understanding of the complexities of getting the best value for taxpayer dollars are traits that I expect will continue to serve the best interest of our community,” Reid said in the email.
