Rajewski changes his mind

At-large Commissioner Phillip Younger still doesn’t have any challengers for his at-large seat.

Town Clerk Trish Granger notified The Longboat Observer Wednesday that Ray Rajewski, a town tax oversight committee member that had filed paperwork to run for the seat, has changed his mind.

Younger confirmed for The Longboat Observer that Rajewski called him this week to inform him of his decision.

But Younger may have to run against former commissioner and mayor Joan Webster, who has not decided whether to run for her former District 4 seat or Younger's at-large seat.

Alan Moore, co-owner of Moore’s Stonecrab Restaurant & Marina, has also picked up a commission application packet.

Younger is a past member of the Code Enforcement Board and Planning and Zoning Board. Younger was selected to fill the remainder of the at-large seat that Gene Jaleski resigned from earlier this year.
District 4 Commissioner Jim Brown has also picked up a packet and intends to run for a second term.

Any other interested citizens can request a commission candidate qualification packet by calling Granger at 316-1999.
