Rain helps Longboat weather drought

The week of June 1 through June 7 on Longboat Key was the second-highest week in terms of rainfall in 2009. The north-Key rain gauge recorded 2.5 inches; the mid-Key rain gauge recorded 3.37 inches; and the south-Key rain gauge recorded 1.16 inches, for an average total of 2.34 inches.

No rainfall was recorded for the same period in 2008.

The wettest week of 2009 so far has been May 18 through May 24, during which rain gauges recorded an average total of 3.05 inches.
