Longboat Key’s new Publix took a concrete step this week as workers began stacking concrete masonry blocks for the building’s walls.

Here’s your fill of other Publix/CVS-related news:

Longboat Observer reader Mark Hullinger snapped a shot of contractors laying a series of perforated drainage casings earlier this week. According to Hullinger, each pipe is capable of moving more than 1,000 gallons of water per minute.

And Longboat Key Publix Manager Andy Lappin has transferred to the downtown Tampa Publix but plans to be back on the Key after the new store opens.
