Imagine School at Palmer Ranch first-grade teacher Sarah Walsh will have 20 students in her homeroom class this year.

Walsh has teaching elementary school children for 12 years and teaches reading, writing and social studies to first graders and alternates classrooms with first-grade teacher Jessica Lee, who teaches them math and science.

The teachers collaborate and get to know the two sets of first-grade classes.

The Boston native has been teaching at Imagine School at Palmer Ranch for four years and the school has been around for five years.

Walsh prepares for open house Wednesday, Aug. 14, by writing instructions on the white board.

She finishes decorating her classroom by sticking colorful months of the year on the wall.

Imagine School at Palmer Ranch is a charter school with 536 students. Children from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade attend the school.
