It was an eventful day for dozens of East County athletes. Here are some of the highlights from yesterday's district, regional and state championship action.

The Lakewood Ranch High softball team held off rival Braden River 2-1 to win the Class 7A-District 10 championship. It was the Lady Mustangs fifth-consecutive district crown. Both teams will now advance to the regional quarterfinals April 24.

Out-of-Door Academy tennis player Maria Ross captured the Class 1A individual singles state championship. Ross then teamed up with Mary Ann Rompf to win the doubles state title. The two will play for the overall singles and doubles titles today.

Tre Gregory cleared 14 feet, 6 inches to finish second in the pole vault at the Class 1A-Region 3 meet. Madison Shaw finished third in both the 100-and 300-meter hurdles. Gregory and Shaw will now move on to the Class 1A state finals May 2 in Jacksonville.

The ODA girls lacrosse team defeated St. Stephen's 10-5 to win the District 16 championship.
