The Sarasota Police Department says two individuals carried out an armed robbery at a North Trail Walgreens Wednesday night, and it’s asking the public for help identifying the suspects.

According to the Police Department, two individuals went into the Walgreens at 3535 N. Tamiami Trail around 11 p.m. last night and demanded an employee give them cash from the register. Armed with handguns, the individuals took the cash drawer and fled the area. They first headed westbound toward Norwood Court on foot and then possibly left in a vehicle, the police said.

The department shared a video of the robbery on YouTube as it attempts to identify the individuals involved.

Witnesses described one of the suspects as a 5’10” black man or woman of average build, according to a police release. The other was described as a 5’6” black woman of a heavy build. Both suspects were wearing black pants, hooded sweatshirts and masks.

The police instructed anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Detective Megan Buck at 954-7067. Individuals can also leave an anonymous tip by calling 366-8477 or visiting sarasotacrimestoppers.com.
