Police arrest man charged with incest

The Sarasota Police Department has charged a 22-year old man with capital sexual battery and incest for acts committed on a 14-year-old victim, according to a June 5 news release.

Joshua Riley admitted to detectives during a polygraph test, that he performed sexual acts with the victim from the time she was an infant. The victim told a friend of the abuse June 27, sparking the investigation. Officers gathered used condoms among other evidence for the case.

The victim told detectives that Riley would use a butter knife to bypass the lock on her bedroom door.

Riley is currently being held without bond on charges that could result in a life sentence without the possibility of parole, according to the release.
