When did you start playing?
“I was 13 and a student at Hebron Academy. It is located in the woods of Maine, so all we had to concentrate on were our studies and sports. I also played soccer and hockey but loved tennis.”

How was today’s game?
“I’m in the spring league, and we won 6-1, 6-2. It was the first time I played with Ron Morrisette, and it worked great.”

Do you warm up before a game?
“I play tennis six or seven days a week, usually about three hours a day. The group of men I play with in the morning always warm up. We bat around the ball for about 15 minutes before we start to play.”

What do you eat before a game?
“Before my morning games I always have the same breakfast — oatmeal, a little brown sugar and fruit. Today, with our mid-morning match, I cheated. I had cottage cheese and iced coffee.”

What was your best shot/move/play today?
“Definitely my lob. I had a couple of great lobs. I’ve been taking sessions with pro David Sparks once a week and we’ve been working on lobs. It has paid off. He’s a great teacher.”

Were there any slip-ups today?
“I don’t really think so. Ron and I played very well together.”

Would you do anything different the next time you play?
“Communicating with Ron today as we played definitely worked. I think in our next game we’ll do more communicating. It makes for a fast, great game.”
