Pirates stumble against Hurricanes

The Braden River football team’s Homecoming celebration was derailed Oct. 15 as the host Pirates fell to Manatee 24-7.

After a scoreless first quarter, Braden River took a 7-3 lead on an 11-yard touchdown run by Oladipo Kolawole — its lone touchdown on the night.

Manatee running back Mike Blakely scored from six yards out in the third quarter, and Hurricanes quarterback Cord Sandberg connected with Quenton Bundrage for an 11-yard touchdown to seal the win for Manatee.
