Running a red light at the intersection of Summerfield Parkway and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard April 4, could mean more than a traffic citation for 22-year-old Lindsay Damery.

Damery, who drove a 2004 Chevy Malibu, struck 83-year-old Donald Mader, which caused him to run into his wife, Joyce. The couple both rode bicycles into the intersection at the same time as Damery.

As Damery ran through the red light, she hit the left side of Mader's body and his bicycle.

The collision caused minor injuries to Joyce, but Donald suffered major injuries and died April 5, at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. Mader was a member of the Modification Review Committee.

Those who knew Mader remember a "dedicated and committed man," who loved Lakewood Ranch.

Funeral arrangements haven't been announced, yet.
