+ Paul Glosser takes turning 85 in stride
Longboat Key resident Paul Glosser isn’t letting his 85th birthday slow him down. Nearly 70 of his family members and friends joined him Jan. 17, when he walked the Ringling Bridge in celebration of his Jan. 22 birthday.

Glosser has recuperated from several surgeries recently, but that hasn’t stopped him. When he could hardly walk, he worked with a trainer to relearn. He went from walking around the living room of his condominium to outside to trekking over the bridge.

“He’s worked really hard, had a goal and achieved it,” Glosser’s wife, Rita, said. “He says the bridge is now a piece of cake. I think it’s a unique way to celebrate an 85th birthday. He’s inspirational to all of us.”
