Pastry shop opens on Main Street

Lakewood Ranch Main Street today officially welcomed a pastry shop to its mix of merchants.

Pastries by Design opened this morning in part of the space formerly occupied by Good Earth Natural Foods.

"We are extremely excited to become a part of Lakewood Ranch Main Street and look forward to continuing to serve the best customers anyone could ever ask for," owner Lyndsy McDonald said. "Through community support, we have grown strong and can’t wait to show off our beautiful new bakery.”

The new shop, which is double the size of McDonald's former space, will offer custom cakes, cookies and other desserts, as well as some ready-made items, such as carrot cake and cupcakes. Its design also allows customers to watch the bakery in action.

The business has been open since 2008.
