Parrish woman dies in car crash

A single-car accident on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard Thursday claimed the life of 74-year-old Vivian Rawls, of Parrish.

A Florida Highway Patrol report states Rawls was driving northound in the right lane of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, about one mile north of Malachite Drive, when she lost control of her 2013 Chevrolet, veered across the northbound lanes and traveled across the center median. Her vehicle crossed into the southbound lanes of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and into the west shoulder before stricking a light pole.

Rawls was transported to Blake Medical Center, where she died.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m.
