The long-discussed improvements to Selby Five Points Park will begin Monday, Oct. 4.
The downtown park’s facelift is intended to create more activity.
Improvements include a small performance stage, new grass and landscaping, a walkway bisecting the park and the removal of the concrete wall that surrounds the park, which was seen as a barrier that kept out visitors.
The Downtown Improvement District pushed for the park’s redesign and will fund the $142,000 cost.
Construction is scheduled to last until Nov. 16, but the park will remain closed until Dec. 1 to allow the new grass to take root.
