The Out-of-Door Academy overcame a muffed punt and sloppy weather conditions, defeating St. Petersburg Catholic 35-21 in its season opener Sept. 2.

Demardre Patterson scored on the opening kickoff of the second half to give the Thunder a 28-14 lead.

ODA muffed a punt midway through the third quarter, which St. Petersburg Catholic returned 50 yards for a touchdown.

Jimmy Donnellan intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter and returned it for a touchdown to secure the victory for the Thunder.
