James and Barry Walsh, of Longboat Key, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary July 13, at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Sarasota — the same place where they were married in 1963 by Msgr. Charles Elslander.

St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church Msgr. Gerard Finegan officiated the vow renewals, while best man Fred Walden, of Bradenton, and matron of honor Sandra Brubaker, of Rockville, Md., and keeper of the bride’s book Ann Darling, of Sarasota, returned to the church to reprise their roles.

This time, however, the couple was joined by the additions to the family they’ve had over 50 years, including their four children and seven grandchildren.
