Ed Smith Stadium will attract more than just baseball fans this fall.

The Baltimore Orioles yesterday announced a series of arts and entertainment events beginning this month called Arts in the Ballpark. The Orioles will partner with organizations such as the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, the Sarasota Orchestra and the Sarasota County School District among others, to make use of the hulking stadium perched on the corner of 12th Street and North Euclid Avenue.

“Hosting major, public events in addition to baseball at Ed Smith Stadium has been the Orioles’ goal since the stadium renovation was completed in 2012," said Orioles-Sarasota Vice President David Rovine in a news release. "Our community partners in this endeavor have embraced that vision and applied their creativity to shaping affordable family events the public will love.”

Arts in the Ballpark begins Oct. 26, with Play Arts! The free event features hands-on acitivites to promote the arts in local schools. For the full schedule, visit orioles.com/sarasota.
